Style Showdown - NRL Grand Final

  • 2 min read
With the NRL grand final coming up this weekend we have been scratching our heads trying to pick the winner. Both Canterbury Bulldogs and the Melbourne Storm have had such strong seasons that we simply can't separate them. We have been left with no other choice than to ignore the on-field attributes of both teams and instead base our decision on their off-field menswear style. Let's look at two of the biggest star players from the Bulldogs and the Storm. Hotshot players Ben Barba and Billy Slater.                                       Both are Dally M award recipients and both are key players for their respective teams, but how do these two powerhouse players match up in off field mens fashion style? Ben Barba showed up to the recent Dally M awards in a slick looking black tuxedo with glossy tie, trims and lapels. This well fitted suit really made him stand out from the crowd and matched the tone of the evening perfectly. At last years International Rugby League Player of the Year awards held in London, Billy Slater went with a no tie, open shirt look. This casual ensemble matches his personality well and creates a fresh looking, laid-back and approachable style. It's a tough one to pick. Do we go with the slick, formal look of Ben Barba or the more Laid-back casual charm of Billy Slater? Both men look great but after taking a quick vote in the Significant Man offices, the result goes to Ben Barba by a small margin. His classic black dinner suit is hard to beat, and while Billy Slater nails the casual suit, Barba's sleekness wins through on the day. Whether Ben Barba's off-field menswear style translates to on-field prowess this weekend remains to be seen but we here at The Significant Man are basing our tip on style. So it's a Bulldogs win in a thriller! Good luck to both teams!
